He forgot school was still in session that day and there were several kids out on the playground for recess. They went up to one of the brightly colored play tunnels and, to the dad's utter horror and disgust, inside the tunnel was a 2nd grade boy and girl with their clothes mostly off playing at having s*x. He told the kids to get out of there - that they shouldn't be doing that. The teacher "supervising" the playground was oblivious and not helpful when he told her about it. He took his child home and came back and spoke with the principal. The principal said there was nothing they could do about it because the kids see it at home, on TV and said "they're saturated with it" and there was nothing they could do. (Not even expulsion or suspension or at least calling and notifying the parent(s)?) This school is typical of the schools in our area and typical of the attitudes of those supposedly in charge.

I don't put much stock in studies cited by USA today. "Some" students may do better. Others, obviously, require more supervision than the school can provide. In some situations, recess is an opportunity to participate in activities that aren't healthy at all.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15202716125247172211noreply@blogger.com
